Chris was an excellent wedding DJ.  It was obvious from our first meeting that he had a lot of experience.  He knew the right questions to ask to find out what we really wanted for both the ceremony and the reception.  He patiently worked with us to make sure we had a playlist for the reception that fit us and the vibe we were looking for.  He read the crowd at the reception perfectly and kept people dancing all night.  I highly recommend Chris if you're looking for a wedding DJ in the Gorge!

Chris was the DJ at our wedding in August of 2012. Working with him was a breeze, from start to finish. He put together a playlist of songs that our guests requested in their RSVPs, set up and broke down seamlessly without us having to do a thing, and even managed to play a last minute, somewhat obscure request through his audio system. The sound quality was excellent, and everyone at the wedding had a fabulous time dancing. We highly recommend Chris for any event that needs some music and dance!

My wife and I hired Chris 'DJ Grok' Donnermeyer for our January (2019) wedding in Hood River and he was absolutely amazing! We decided to hire a DJ a little later in the wedding planning process, and since we live in Seattle, we were worried we wouldn't find a DJ local to where our wedding was at the Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa. Sure enough, we found Chris, set up a call and the rest is history. Being that we lived further away, our communication was strictly via email and some on the phone, but that didn't take away from how flexible and easy he was to work with. We had some trouble finding specific songs for dances and processional/recessional, but Chris swooped right in with some awesome suggestions. Leading up to the day-of, he was quick to make last minute changes, had everything set up in a timely fashion and created a smooth flow transitioning between ceremony and reception. Our guests loved him and so did we! Highly recommend hiring him as a DJ for any event you have planned as he is reasonably priced and HE SPINS VINYL! Thank you DJ Grok for making our special day so memorable!!!

We booked Chris for our wedding in March 2016, and couldn’t have been any happier.  Scheduling and logistics were east to work out, and he was punctual, courteous, professional, and a lot of fun.

Chris worked with us ahead of time to get a sense of our taste in music and gather our specific requests.  He has an expansive vinyl collection and did a great job of matching the music to the mood through the various phases of the evening (cocktail hour, dinner, cake-cutting, dancing).  When it came time to dance, he did a great job of reading the crowd and playing songs to keep people of all ages on the dance floor.  When our guests had requests, he obtained them digitally quickly to keep everyone happy.  The music volume was always appropriate for the space and setting.  When the evening was through, he packed up everything quickly, being respectful of the venue and their closing time.

We were worried about choosing a DJ, because that’s the only wedding vendor where you really don’t get an opportunity to sample their product / service before the big day. Chris put us at ease, and really helped make our wedding a fun and memorable time for us and our guests. Thanks Chris!

We got in touch with Chris as two soon-to-be-weds pulling our hair out in the final throes of wedding planning.  We were really apprehensive about DJ selection because we have seen how WRONG things can go with a bad DJ.  Chris was introduced to us by our trusted wedding planner and we knew right off the bat we were going to be in good hands.  He had a really thoughtful process for getting to know our personal tastes (and distastes!) and this made us feel very at ease.  On the day of, Chris totally nailed it.  His eclectic mix of pop, throwback, EDM and world music (all of our requests and all on vinyl, to boot!) had even the wallflowers dancing and really put the cherry on top of a great outdoor wedding in Hood River.

DJ Grok was amazing. He worked our wedding at the Crag Rat Hut and had an incredible set up with lights and a killer DJ station. He also provided mics for the ceremony and a separate set up for background music at our dinner. He is reasonably priced and offers so much. I cannot recommend him highly enough. We loved having him and hope we get to attend another one of his weddings in the future -- the party was just so good!

Chris was a fantastic DJ. He was always professional while providing advice and support throughout the planning process. The ceremony was outside and the remainder inside and he had no problem with the major changes in party location. The music was central to the ceremony of course, as well as background dinner music, the Dad-daughter / Mother-son dance and the cutting of the cake. Chris was incredibly flexible, had plenty available in his song library for requests from all ages of guests, and provided a fabulous dance party for all!

DJ Grok, is a top class DJ! We had the pleasure of having Chris DJ our wedding recently in late August and he made sure everything went off without a hitch! He was very responsive during our planning sessions and made sure to capture all of the details for our event ahead of time to ensure smooth sailing on the big day. We appreciated his punctual and professional approach to his set up. He has a deep knowledge of music and a wide arsenal of tunes that he can apply to any situation. Most importantly he listened to what we had in mind for our special day. He delivered on our stylistic music requests for the various segments of the evening, ensured the must have songs were played, and kept the party alive by making some great judgement calls on some choice selections. I loved the way he incorporated classic vinyl into his mix throughout the night. Highly recommend him for your wedding or event!

DJ Grok is a true professional. There are times in the wedding planning process where you question the importance of a DJ - could we save money and run a Spotify playlist? My words of advice, don’t do it, and hire DJ Grok. His ability to read the room, the experience and confidence with out being over bearing, and his genuine love for music, allowed for a once in a lifetime experience. If you ask, his ideal dance party would be 3-4 hours, he’d bring combinations of music you’d never thought of and the whole time, he will celebrate you the entire way. If you love to dance, are looking for reliability and low stress on your big day. Look no further, this is the man!!
